One of our regular customers - Hampshire Sash Window Services Ltd -www.hantssash.co.uk delivers talks to local schools about the work that the company undertakes which is a rather specialised form of carpentry work and they asked if we could supply a small, fully operational box sash unit to take to their talks?
It was key that this unit should be complete and by using a perspex cover over one of the weight pockets one could demonstrate precisely how the system of counterbalanced weights supporting the sashes works. Discrete draught-proofing was also incorporated as with all our new units.
We understand that the students' reaction, once they see the weights moving up and down with the sashes, is that it is "pretty cool"! Not bad for a design that is so old and involved no IT wizardry.
